George W.F. Hegel famously said, “ We learn from history that we do not learn from history”.

George Santayana wrote,” Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”.

But what does this mean? Why don’t we learn from history when we have all the information we could dream of just one click away on the interweb? Do we want more war, famine, and poverty? Are we too lazy to search and read? Indeed the brightest minds and renowned faculties will use history to avoid future mistakes? Right? Right?

No, they won't, and herein lies the underlying reason.

The world is blind because it prefers darkness and sin rather than love for God, truth, and light.

We learn from 2Th 2:10–11

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Humanity will not learn from history, and there is nothing new under the sun, but those who will be saved from our history of fallen nature and the wicked world, must come to the truth and light, found only in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which came to die for us and our sin, so we could be reconciled with God and to save us from eternal damnation.

My friend, Jesus is coming back soon. Are you ready? Or do you still believe that humanity will learn from history?
